Sometimes, you think you are hungry but what you are sensing is thirst. If you find yourself hungry at an odd time, or when you are not wanting to eat, drink a glass of water first. If your “hunger” goes away, you were just thirsty.
In our soon to be released weight loss book Change Your Mind: Lose Weight, we provide ways to get in touch with your hunger and fullness levels. Knowing when you are truly hungry takes some practice, but recognizing that you may not be when you think you are prompts you to bring the subject of hunger to consciousness. The next time you sit down to eat, ask yourself, am I really hungry?
