Cole Barnett and Zanab Jaffrey from Netflix’s Love is Blind caused quite a stir when—Spoiler Alert—Zanab not only refused to marry the stranger but after leading him on for weeks, accused him of abuse at the altar and on the reunion show. But that is one side of the story. While Zanab seemed to blow things out of proportion, appearing almost mentally ill to some, to others, she was a shero, standing up for herself after weeks of psychological torture, and she got a standing ovation for her declaration. Who is right?
There is no answer really. As human beings, we perceive things differently. Each personal belief is a product of the mind, a conclusion about the information you sifted through. It is not based on an objective reality.
Cole and Zanab certainly had different opinions about the world and each other, and so did their fans. Their journey, and the different opinions on it, make for good conversation, but it can become divisive if you are too attached to your perspective.
One way to get along with others, and feel peaceful no matter their point of view on any topic, is to detach from your beliefs. See your thoughts as just ideas that are separate from you. Doing this will help to neutralize them. When you start to see your thoughts and beliefs as separate from who you really are–a soul being in this present reality–you will be able to shift your consciousness and see your opinion as nothing more than a thought form. When you have this more objective mindset, you will be able to discuss matters without becoming too invested in a position.
