So many of us are either quarantined or under a stay at home order, or just staying in to be safe. Many of us are working from home and enjoying some extra free time if we are not directly affected by the virus. We are sleeping later because we do not have to commute, we are ditching the makeup and going for nature walks, and we are engaging in quiet activities like reading or crafts.
We do miss our lives and we will certainly flock to events and parties and barbecues after this is over. But while things will get back to normal, we want to point out that we can retain some of the benefits of the slower pace if we are deliberate. Here are 3 things you can do:
· Just slow down. Savor the good moments. Stop rushing. Think about quitting clubs or groups that take time if they were not missed.
· Learn to say no. So often, we say yes to every ask or invitation. Now, you see that you can easily cancel everything if you wanted. Once life resumes, don’t be quick to fully populate your calendar.
· Keep the positive things you started doing during quarantine. For example, if you are now sleeping 8 hours, don’t go back to 5. If you are enjoying quietly reading before bed, keep it up!
So which activities would you give up? Which are definite keepers? It is easiest to start from scratch to create the life you want. And now, with life at a standstill, you have the perfect opportunity!
